I had heard of this sport years ago but never saw any footage of it. After seeing some I have to say that it looks rather enjoyable. I am in no way a fan of Basketball as I find it quite Boring and repetitive to watch except for the odd NBA game, Yet Slamball includes all the aspects of Basketball that it is missing.

I played guitar hero for the first time over the weekend. besides being an enjoyable game, in no way does it correspond to real guitar skills nor in any way could it attribute a guitar player.
Pouncing on the band wagon is a game called Guitar Rising. I as of yet don't know wether it is real or not. the premis is to mach the chords with the chords on the screen. gradually learning to play the guitar. it will be interesting if this does come out and how well it will be able to teach people.

We have all received dodgy emails from people usually in Africa. This is known as 419 scamming & usually consists of the emailer Offering the recipient "Cash price Monies." All they have to do is give them their banking details so they can transfer the money into their account.
The vast majority of us just laugh & delete them, however all they need is just one person(idiot) to fall for this scam and they are in the money. generally It must work if they are continually sending out these emails?
One man who got so sick of receiving these emails decided to get his own back and some retribution, subsequently it led to quite a comical series of events which he has documented Here.

Steven Stauntan, fantastic player, a great long standing servent to Irish football, God awful Manager. while Stan was in charge, What angered me most (besides the results) was the severe lack of passion and a over heightened sence of resentment to the media. fair enough the media didn't treat him that fairly but to most people they are their eyes and ears to irish football. Passion and honesty go along way with the irish public and sadly Stauntan lacked both which transferred to the style of play of the irish team.
A case in point of this was after the irish rugby game against France a couple of weeks back. It was safe to say that in the first sixty minutes ireland were played off the park by France's ferocious Back line. they came back into it in the last twenty minutes and perhaps could of won it. after the game a couple of players came out to give a post match interview. First out was Donncha O'Callaghan. The emotional pain on his body was clearly visible, what he came out with was purely led by the heart. To paraphrase what he said, was that they gave it their all, that they were dejected in the dressing room and that they were deeply disapointed and apologetic to the Irish nation for letting them down. this was real emotion. the disappointment i was personally feeling after the result disaperated to pride of the team after what O'Callaghan had said and that they cleary gave their all(as that is all we could ask for & was as unfortuantly unseen at the World cup). Next up were Eddie and BOD who showed little emotion or thought towards the fans, instead deciding to use marketing speak and reverting to old cliches "game of two halfs" "we were unlucky to to grab it." This Just angered me!

Now that Trapp is in charge i am looking forward to the passion of irish soccer to be restored. We've never had the greatest players in the world but we have had passion and heart. Passion and heart that have guided us to euro 88 and the World cups in 1990,94 and 2002. We can only await for better things to come.

Lets just hope his English is better than his German.

Ladies & Gentleman, allow me to take you back in time. The Year? 1999. Manchester United won the treble, The venga boys were riding high in the charts, The Kosovo crises, etc.
MTV which had been around since the early eighties took a new turn when instead of only playing music, they began to include original and in house content. The flagship
show For this was the Tom Green show.
1999 was a big year for myself. It was the year that i finished primary school and moved onto secondary. needless to say the Tom green show was perfect for my underdeveloped adolescent mind. It's mix of "gross out" and potty humour made it the suitable candidate for the talk of the playground. As surely only A twelve/thirteen year old could enjoy a man with such low self esteem that he would carry around a severed cows head, suck milk from a cow and perform other cow unrelated stunts. Yet the public lapped it up. At the height of Tom Greens powers, he got to number one in the United states with his "Bum Song."
The show rode high in the viewing figures for MTV till 2000 when it was surprisingly cancelled, A frequent rumour says that the show was cancelled because of an alleged segment where Green shows up at a Bar Mitzvah dressed as Adolf Hitler. Green, however, has repeatedly denied that such a segment exists, and there is no evidence to suggest otherwise.
Apart from some movie work, Freddie got fingered, roadtrip among others and his failed marriage to drew Barrymore and his fight with cancer It is safe to say to say that Tom has Fallen off the radar. Until now!

A Common practise is the majority of Educational Institutions is the practise of teachers handling out projects to their students. From Primary to third level they add a somewhat business or work like ethos to the classroom. Prospective students are given a topic and a deadline upon to research, writeup and present their project.
For most students this can become an almost daunting prospect as most projects have extremely wide borders upon to research on. A form of learning that is somewhat absent from the otherwise restrictive teaching methods and curriculum especially in the Irish educational system.
anyway the reason for this post is because of a website I came across which contains pictures of students displaying their science Projects in school. The Science project has somewhat become an Institution in American society and Is slightly lacking in Ireland besides the young scientist expo every Jan in the R.D.S. In Most cases perhaps A little direction and guidance from a teacher would perhaps of been beneficial.

after 24 hours, 3 planes and watching shooter 3 times we finally arrived at San Diego.
The Plane from L.A.X to San Diego was a thirty seater plane and flew like brick. From The Airport Our bags were delayed till the next flight. our taxi driver was hilarious. what we thought was him being an excentric person ended up being crazy russian man who only started work a week previously. To say we knew San diego more than he did was an underestimation.

James Shane Byrne (born Sunday 18 July 1971) is an Irish rugby union footballer. Byrne is one of few players from the amateur era still involved at international level. He is nicknamed 'Mullet' (a reference to his hair style).

A native of Aughrim, County Wicklow. He attended Blackrock College in Dublin, the alma mater of many Irish greats.

He plied his trade for many years at Leinster, where he was always considered a solid and highly effective thrower but nonetheless never given the recognition he was perhaps due. In being selected for two Lions tests, Byrne can now be regarded as one of Ireland's great hookers alongside Ronnie Dawson, Karl Mullen, Gordon Wood, Ken Kennedy, Ciaran Fitzgerald and Keith Wood.

Jonah Lomu Rugby is a computer and video game released in 1997. It was developed by Codemasters and published by Rage Software. It was released on the PC, PlayStation and Sega Saturn. Its title is a reference to noted All Blacks winger Jonah Lomu.

The game supports one to four players. There are a number of playable modes - including knock-out, World Cup, regional competitions as well as historical matches.

Jonah Lomu Rugby was the first rugby union game released on the PlayStation platform. At the time of its release, the game received relatively high praise. It was particularly praised for its smoothness of gameplay and the quality of graphics at the time

One of the 'unlockable' teams was a team called 'team Lomu' where all 15 players were Jonah. In the game Jonah was easily the best as he broke 80% of all tackles and was one of the fastest in the game. The team Lomu was practically unbeatable.

The bump off is a hidden feature of the game that when used properly can be the difference between being 2nd and 1st. By holding R2, and pushing square while falling in a tackle can result in the player in possession regaining his feet and continue running

I'm Not a fan of baseball at all. It is perhaps my least favourite sport. However this has all changed after seeing this clip on the internet. The Coach for the team the AA Braves gets so incensed by a descision of the umpire that he completely loses it. His actions are insane but due to my limited knowledge of the game I'm not sure if thats how you actually play Baseball. Is what he doing part of the rules and am I and idiot who has misinterpreted them?

So there, I am, in Sri Lanka, formerly Ceylon, at about 3 o'clock in the morning, looking for one thousand brown M&Ms to fill a brandy glass, or Ozzy wouldn't go on stage that night. So, Jeff Beck pops his head 'round the door, and mentions there's a little sweets shop on the edge of town. So - we go. And - it's closed. So there's me, and Keith Moon, and David Crosby, breaking into that little sweets shop, eh. Well, instead of a guard dog, they've got this bloody great big Bengal tiger. I managed to take out the tiger with a can of mace, but the shopkeeper and his son... that's a different story altogether. I had to beat them to death with their own shoes. Nasty business, really, but sure enough I got the M&Ms, and Ozzy went on stage and did a great show.

Eric Cantona is one of my Favourite players of all time and it was a privilage to have seen him play live and to meet him on one occasion in Dublin.However His one downside is his tendancy to speak a lot of bullshit when attempting to sound distiungished and smart.

Everyone remembers that famous press conference back in 1995 just after Eric Cantona had been banned for Kung Fu Kicking a fan at selhurst park. In that interview Cantona refered to seagulls going after a trawler because they think they'll get they will get sardines.

As most of you know Paris Hilton is sentenced to 45 days in jail commencing on the 6Th of June. In order of preventing this "travesty," Paris's Trusty fans have come out of the woodwork and have set up an online petition addressed to Governor of California, Arnold Shrwarchsneger.

The petition is farcical and in no way could be taken seriously, some of my Favourite lines in the petition are as follows:
"Paris Whitney Hilton is an American celebrity and socialite. She provides beauty and excitement to (most of) our otherwise mundane lives."

"Hilton is notable for her leading roles on the FOX reality series The Simple Life and in the remake of the Vincent Price horror classic "House of Wax"."

"Yet, Paris Hilton did not hurt, injure, or kill anyone or anything, and yet she must do jail time."

"If the late Former President Gerald Ford could find it in his heart to pardon the late Former President Richard Nixon after his mistake(s), we undeniably support Paris Hilton being pardoned for her honest mistake as well, and we hope and expect The Governor will understand and grant this unusual but important request in good faith to Ms. Paris Whitney Hilton."

Unfortuantly for Ms Hilton A rival petition requesting that she DOES serve her full sentence has been set up and currently has more than double the amount of online signitures than the other one.

Saw him two weeks ago, Highlights included Random songs about how he wished he had a "gee" and period, Smacking his head so hard against the microphone that he began to bleed, spitting all over himself, Being so offensive that a mass walkout occurred and when people did leave getting verbally abused by McSavage(on one incident a girl in the front row was leaving and Dave shouted "Get The Fuck Out Of Here You Goth Bitch," followed by "don't worry she's my friend."),vulgar language and the showstopper joke at the end.

Overall it was an enjoyable night and I Found Dave to be quite hilarious at times. I would recommend people going to see Mr, McSavage but perhaps not suited to all tastes.

It was An Intersesting end to the season with an outcome that was not foreseen. The Favourites came second The Irish contingent just didn't perform. Unless you're an idiot you would of known straight away that I was talking about The Eurovsion.

The Mighty Lesbians of Serbia Walked away with the title. Their Manliness was no match to the other challengers. The favourites Ukraine ended up second while Ireland Finished Dead last with their song "Springtime for Hitler" or something like that.

As Exams Loom over us like (insert witty remark here). You End up procrastinating like a bitch. Now as many of you probably know I am The King Of Procrastination. If you are on the Internet for longer than five minutes than you probably have something better to do. As My Favourite Comedian put it "If Procrastination was an Olympic sport, I wouldn't turn up. I'd find something else to do and then not do that." Anyway as I was bored the other day I decided to do the obvious thing and Google my name.

Google has a new feature that allows you to see what is the top search topics used throughout the World. Last Month In Ireland the top Search topic was "Creative Ireland." While Louth county council, Peppa pig and Boomerang came in at 2nd, 7th and 12th respectively.

The secret is a phenomenon trawling through the US at the moment. What started off as a film has now spawned across many media distributions such as podcasts and books. This is so popular that You can't get the book for love or Money anywhere in New York.

So what is The Secret? It can be best described as a self help book that attempts to utilise the "Laws Of Attraction." The Tagline of the book is "The secret has traveled through centuries to reach you." The main principle behind the "laws of attraction" are that our feelings and thoughts attract real events in the world into our lives; so if you are to believe that you will be a billionaire that it will happen.

There is some truth behind what is being said such as that when attempting something you will have a far better chance of accomplishing it if you have a the belief that you you will accomplish it than if you don't. If you believe that you want to be a lawyer or something and have a strong belief towards that goal you will strive to accomplish that belief. Sports stars such as Ronan O'gara use that technique all the time, for example when going for a penalty they picture the ball going over the posts.

However I start to take issue with "the Secret" When in later chapters it says that by using the technique you can cure illnesses such as cancer! This has sparked media outrage across the U.S with people worried that members of the public will push aside
conventional medicine for positive thinking.

When Oprah Winfrey Did an article on the secret she followed it with a health warning
and had to urge a guest to seek medical attention for cancer.

New craze sweeping prison. Jail Bird literally .

Last week it was brought to many peoples attention that many of the inmates in jail have banned stuff. A dangerous criminal rang in to Joe Duffy on liveline to abuse the crime journilist Paul Williams. This doesn't sound that harmless but the fact was he was calling from the most high security prison in the country in the most high security wing. What emerged from this story was the fact that it was relatively easy for inmates to get hold of such items as mobile phones which would allow them to continue their illegal activity from whithin their confined four walls.

Recenctly a series of high profile searches were undertook and many items were confiscated including alcohol, drugs, needles mobile phones and a Budgie?

Thebudgie, believed to have been smuggled into the jail by a female visitor who concealed the bird internally in her body, is understood to have belonged to a prisoner serving a long-term jail sentence.

Not only is that disgusting but also ridiculous that the guards didn't find it before,

With the premiership title decided and the season finishing this Sunday, I thought that I would give my view on the team of the season.

Goalkeeper: Petr Cech
Despite his near life and career threatening injury Petr has come back and proved why he is known as the best Goalkeeper in the world. You can't deny that Chelsea Suffered badly while he was injured and that just proved to the world what an important force he is to have at the back.

Center back(1): Nmanja Vidic
After a shaky start to life in the premiership last season Nmanja has adapted really well to life in the premiership. People shouldn't underestimate the accomplishments of the Man Utd defence this year, which was one of their biggest weaknesses over the past couple of seasons. His partnership with Rio has been solid and the two defenders compliment each other. Nmanja's performances have contributed to Utd having one of the best defence record in the league this season.

Centreback(2): Ricardo Carvalio
Has Been the most consistent defender this season for chelsea and far better than the over hyped John Terry.

Right Back: Steve Finnan
Great defender with one of the highest assist records in the premiership

Left back: Mathew Taylor
Not known for his prolific defensive qualities. Mathew has scored some of the goals of the season this year and thats why he's in the team

Midfield: Michael Essien
One of chelsea's most underated but best players. While Frank Lampard gets all the attention for all the goals he scores, the only reason he gets to is because of this powerhouse in midfield working away and being the centre point of the chelsea team. Not partial to the odd spectacular goal or two

Midfield: Paul Scholes
Exceptional this year and perhaps the difference between manchester United winning and losing the title this season. Not perhaps always in the game but knows when to turn up when it counts. At 33 people felt that Paul was perhaps past it, But hes has proved them wrong on countless occasions this season.

Midfield Right: Christano Ronaldo
despite what peoples views are whether or not he is the best player in the world. You can't deny what an amazing season he has and how he has progressed into a more fullfilling player. Impossible to leave our of the team of the year.

Midfield Left: Mikeal Arteta
tough decsion but for what he has done for everton and by far their best player

Centre Forward: Didier Drogba
Has proved the 27 million price tag as he has powered himself to the top the goalscoring charts this season

centre forward: Dimiter Berbatov
At first glance he looked like an other overrated and overvalued player that tottenham had once again brought in but has proved most people wrong with his outstanding displays and his prolific goal scoring this season.

The westboro baptist church is based in Topeka Kansas and is headed by Fred phelps. Most of it's members our of the Phelps family. It's main message is one of severe hate, especially towards homosexuals, America and U.S. Soldiers fighting in Iraq however they also condemn Roman Catholics, Muslims, Jews, Sweden, Canada, and other groups. The organization has obtained notoriety in recent years due to its picketing of funeral processions for soldiers killed in combat, which functions as an extension of the Phelps' anti-United States beliefs. Even though they class themselves as baptists the baptist church has distanced themselves from this organization.

The church bases its work around the belief expressed by its best known slogan "God hates fags." They believe that every tragedy in the world can be linked to homosexuality.

On Friday the Washington Wizards played Toronto in the NBA. The Wizards were up by three and with time winding down Morris Peterson intercepted. Game Over? yes you would think so but no! It is somewhat customary when there is only a second or so to go to throw the ball into the air or into the crowd. Morris Peterson decided to do this however he didn't throw it hard enough so the ball landed in a toronto players hands and he shot the three pointer to bring the game into over time. The real sickener is that Toronto went on to win by five.

The trailer for Grand Theft auto IV was released this evening and it looks amazing! I have never seen a computer game look so good. The one thing I thought the other ones missed was the fact that it looked quite cartoonish. Now with amazing realistic graphics, addictive gameplay, deadly soundtracks and one of the best premises ever conceived I don't see my self buying another computer game ever again( until GTA V that is or pro evo). Even better, this time you play as an eastern european!!!!! If you don't own a xbox360 buy one now, now I say.

Saw the film 300 yesterday and beside the large historical inaccuracy's no character development and the fact that some monsters that weren't even in the graphic novel made it in, it was an entirely enjoyable experience, the best film I've seen this year and one film I'd definitely want to see again in the cinema.

One thing I was surprised about was the fact that it was given a 15 pg rating. I thought it deserved a 18 if not a 15 but 15 pg allows children under the age of 15 to see the film if accompanied by an adult. When I was at the tender age of two or three every so often my whole family would convene at the club in Dalkey. Drinks were had by the adults while club orange was my drink of choice as well as bacon fries. I don't know why but I really enjoyed this rare meeting in this pub, So much so that when ever we walked by this pub i would try and force my parents into the pub. I would become visibly upset and begin to cry. My Grandparents who lived in dalkey near the club would have to take a large detour in order to avoid the property whenever we walked to and from dalkey village.

My obsession soon spread. After a short while I wasn't safe from any pub. My mum recounts a incident when we were walking down Blackrock mainstreet with a friend of hers. The drinks cellar beside the entrance of a stinking old mans pub was open. I got a whiff of the pub smell and was off. apparently I went insane much to the embarrassment of my Mum.

Now people that know me know that I am fond of the odd drink. The retelling of this story has really got me thinking. Have these incidents psychologically shaped my thinking and views on life. Its a difficult question and no doubt countless experiments by no doubt ably smarter people have been conducted and written on so i will refuse to comment on my own views. However one thing i did realise and perhaps is one of the reasons why I don't smoke is when i was young the only people I saw smoke were women so still to this day I see smoking as a feminine exercise.

These words will be very familiar to any one who grew up in the nineties. Back then life was simpler all you had to worry about was getting the right hand side of the Manchester United team and wonder why you kept getting Wimbledon players. You were looked upon as a god if you had a premiership crest(The creme de la creme of stickers).

If you haven't figured out yet what i'm talking about, it's Merlin's Premier league sticker collection. This sensation took up many of the irish youths minds during the late nineties. four packs would roughly cost 1 pound and in it would contain six normal sized stickers and one big sticker. once you got a sticker you would place it in it's designated spot in the book. If you were unfortunate enough to get a sticker that you already had you would put it in your swap pile to swap with a friend before during and after school. The stickers were somewhat regarded as a primitave form of currency where some stickers held more weight when compared to others. shiny stickers would come into force here, these stickers would not be in every pack you would of been really lucky if you got two in a pack, three shiny's in a pack was seen as legendary and perhaps unheard of.

Some Stickers would be very common while some would be impossible, as I said earlier the no.1 sticker would be the premiership crest, it too was a shiny. the more common stickers would include player such as phillipe Albert, Richare Shaw, Matt Le Tissier and Frank LeBoeuf.

Each team would be deignated six pages. The first two would contain the Teams crest, jersey, a picture of the team and it's top scorer. The middle two pages would contain the team and the back two pages would have three stickers for the hotshot, superstar and a international player. included would be various stats regarding the team. In the middle of the book would be for some reason stickers regarding McDonalds? Basically this fad would start in january and end in april,usually wondering what to do with five stickers of John fashanu.

It was reported today in the news that the Israeli ambassador for El Salvadore has been sent home. He was found unconscious a couple of weks ago outside his residence. He was wearing nothing but was tied up in bondage gear. He was bound and gagged.
When approached by police he was clearly inebriated but was able to identify himself as the ambassador. The Israeli government have taken it very seriously and have released him from all his responsibilities.
I think this is brilliant and maybe some Irish diplomats could take a page out of this guys book and let their hair down. I will be proposing to the Irish government that casual Fridays be strictly enforced in all Irish embassy's with alcohol being mandatory. These people are our represntitives and damn it we have a reputation to live up to.

NTL Comes Good?

In Ireland the two main providers of digital television are NTL and Sky. They both share the vast majority of progamming but This Is where the similarities end. In the past few years Sky has invested hundreds of millions of euro into its service providing customers with added viewing features as digital features (red button) and recently have added the sky+ package and Sky HD. In the past five years the owners of NTL have invested zero euro into it's digital service. This has caused the swing to shift towards Sky who are recording five times more subscriptions than NTL and have grabbed the market share in the digital service.

The Irish times recently reported in its business section that NTL was purchased by an investment company in Colorado for one Billion dollers, Thus the ntl brand name will change to UPC. The Company liberty have also pledged 400 million euro to finally update the service in order to take on Sky. As a subsciber to NTL this is good news, so hopefully they pull through on their proposed promises and maybe NTL won't be known as the shit sky.
