Scotland + Football= Pointless

One of my biggest pet peeves is Irelands and especially the Irish Media's Obsession with Scottish Football. Celtic being the nucleus of this obsession. My Question is WHY? First of all it's a piss poor league, Only two teams have properly competed for the title, that being celtic and rangers. The only team to disrupt this monopoly of scottish football was hearts last season however they imploded towards the latter stages and celtic walked away with the title once again.
The league is full of second rate european footballers who would struggle to walk into any team in the championship in England, These players predominately are unknown upon arrival and rarely make an impact sufficient enough to warrant a proper mention. In the last few years only Henrik Larrson has truly been a world class player in the league. Gattuso the A.C. Milan midfielder spent a spell at Rangers However it was only after he left that his true skill and potential were recognised.
These points are only minor compared to my main gripe. The fact that the league is fuelled by hatred and sectarianism. The League has evil tendancies that disgust me. Generations of Irish men have grown up with complete ignorance towards the northen Irish Issue thanks to the sectarianism fuelled by Supporting Celtic. Celtic was founded by Irish priests in Glasgow and it's fans are predominately Catholic where as Rangers supporters are mainly Protestant. Many Irish youths have grown up believeing that they have to support Celtic due to their nationality and religion. This love of Celtic is in direct proportion to their hatred of Rangers and thus spurning a ignorant hatred towards protestants.
This Ignorance was truly highlighted at the love Ulster riots that occured last year. many of the rioters who had no idea what the march was really about were wearing Celtic jerseys and memorabilia. The march was to commemorate the people that had died during the troubles regardless of religion. The Ignorant Celtic shirt wearing idiots saw that the marchers were protestant and saw it as an excuse to cause trouble. After this day my little respect toward scottish football was completely erradicated.
However the media will not relinquish the mass coverage afforded to Celtic and the fact it loves to highlight rangers Misfortunes unless the irish relise that perhaps the irish should support their own irish league and not some second rate league overseas.
My reasoning for writing this was after seeing a picture in one of the british broadsheets. It was one of the most ironic pictures i have seen that depicted a chav outside croke park with a sign saying no to foreign sports. This chav was wearing full Celtic Regalia.
