The secret is a phenomenon trawling through the US at the moment. What started off as a film has now spawned across many media distributions such as podcasts and books. This is so popular that You can't get the book for love or Money anywhere in New York.
So what is The Secret? It can be best described as a self help book that attempts to utilise the "Laws Of Attraction." The Tagline of the book is "The secret has traveled through centuries to reach you." The main principle behind the "laws of attraction" are that our feelings and thoughts attract real events in the world into our lives; so if you are to believe that you will be a billionaire that it will happen.
There is some truth behind what is being said such as that when attempting something you will have a far better chance of accomplishing it if you have a the belief that you you will accomplish it than if you don't. If you believe that you want to be a lawyer or something and have a strong belief towards that goal you will strive to accomplish that belief. Sports stars such as Ronan O'gara use that technique all the time, for example when going for a penalty they picture the ball going over the posts.
However I start to take issue with "the Secret" When in later chapters it says that by using the technique you can cure illnesses such as cancer! This has sparked media outrage across the U.S with people worried that members of the public will push aside
conventional medicine for positive thinking.
When Oprah Winfrey Did an article on the secret she followed it with a health warning
and had to urge a guest to seek medical attention for cancer.
According To the Author of the secret Rhonda Byrne, The secret has been known for centuries and has been used by such luminaries as Aristotle, Plato, Isaac Newton, Martin Luther King, Thomas Edison, Albert Einstein,Winston Churchill, Prophet Muhammad, Alexander Graham Bell, Ludvig Van Beethoven, Thomas Troward And Carlton Palmer.
Rhonda Byrne is the person who has let slip this secret and published the films and books. She is famed before for being a producer. Rhonda has worked on the Australian TV series World's Greatest Commercials and Marry Me. No doubt though that she has made a pretty penny from this venture and thus the secret must be true?(Sarcasm)
